Good Morning The news that Sime Derby has made a �1.1 billion offer for AIM listed New Britain Palm Oil means that, subject to successful completion, AIM listed DekelOil, an established vertically integrated palm oil producer in the Cote dIvoire, is now one of the few remaining palm oil companies listed in London.

The share price reacted very positively to this this morning. The Malaysian giants have been very active over recent months given there is no expansion land left in Malaysia, and this has only been exacerbated in recent months due to the Indonesian governments intention to restrict foreign ownership of palm oil assets in Indonesia.

Accordingly, palm oil majors are looking outside of these jurisdictions to secure their future production to serve the growing market, entering or expanding into West Africa as evidenced by KLKs recent majority acquisition of Equatorial Palm Oil plc.

Global demand for palm oil is forecast to double by 2020 and therefore, DekelOils established asset base (which includes one of West Africas largest CPO mills), contiguous land position ideal for growing oil palm and productive status is highly desirable.

Natural barriers to entry can prevent majors from securing large packages of contiguous land suitable for planting and near term production, so entry by way of acquisition is largely preferred.
