Initial Northern Shear Drill Results Drilling Results Update #1
Highlights
* Assays received from the first 7 scout holes (2,135m) at the Northern Shear Guy Fawkes Project Sector validate the Auroch geological interpretation and strategy * Gold mineralisation occurs within quartz veins hosted in sheared talc chlorite schists and weathered demagnetised serpentinites, as well as in BIF invaded, sugary aplite * Five of the first seven holes intersected gold mineralisation with best intersection 0.4m @ 10.83g/t * 5,566m of the planned 22,000m 2013 exploration program complete, drilling continues at the Northern Shear with the second set of samples currently being assayed
Mozambique-focused gold explorer Auroch Minerals NL (ASX:AOU) (Auroch or the Company) is pleased to advise that assays received from its Q4 2012 diamond drilling program at the Guy Fawkes Project Sector, which forms part of the Northern shear of the Manica Project (Figure 1), confirm the continuity of the mineralised structure eastward.

These positive results equip the exploration team with a better understanding of the mineralised structures to more efficiently refine the Auroch exploration strategy and drill target generation. “Scout drilling has confirmed a classical greenstone structure with mineralisation hosted within quartz veins; initial assay results are very encouraging” commented Auroch Managing Director Dean Cunningham. Q4 2012 Scout Drilling Result Specifics First drilling results from the Guy Fawkes Project Sector (Figure 1) are released today on the eastern extension within the Guy Fawkes Project Sector.

This drilling has confirmed the presence of a significant shear zone within this Project Sector (Shear Zone).

The Shear Zone contains a variety of lithologies including quartz veins, bleached talc chlorite schist, banded iron formation (BIF) and aplite, often strongly brecciated, and is gold mineralised in part.

A total of seven holes were drilled over a strike distance of approximately 1,400m, five of which intersected the Shear Zone at depths of between 38m to 194m, over varying widths, confirming continuity in depth of the Shear Zone within the shaded pink area in Figure 2.

The confirmation of the continuity of the Shear Zone from a few drill intersections is very positive and confirms the Company’s geological understanding of the area.

The assay results, presented in Table 1, confirm the occurrence of gold mineralisation from the Q4 2012 scout drilling in the eastern portion of the Shear Zone of the Guy Fawkes Project Sector.

Drill hole locations are depicted in Figure 3.

Check assays are awaited on a subset of the drill hole samples.
As expected, the results from the Q4 2012 scout drilling demonstrate that the occurrence of mineralisation is broadly similar to the historical drilling campaigns at Guy Fawkes.

Q1 2013 Exploration A further seven holes have been completed on the eastern and central area shear zone of the Guy Fawkes Project Sector (Figure 3).

These samples are being prepared for export to the laboratories in South Africa for assaying. In addition, six holes on the western extremity of the Shear Zone, close to the historical Guy Fawkes mine, have been drilled and are being readied for submission to the laboratory (Figure 4).

Data from historical (trenching, open pit mining) confirms the occurrence of gold mineralisation and the potential for further continuity of the Shear Zone (Figure 5).

The current drilling is targeted to reaffirm the potential of the area.

The confirmation of the Shear Zone within the Guy Fawkes Project Sector will now see Auroch focus on trenching and drilling along the Shear Zone. Current and Planned Work Auroch continues to integrate the new data sets available, including the results of the current drilling, airborne survey and surface mapping, to define the most prospective zones of the sector.

The exploration programme is being modified in light of the drilling results in order to focus attention on identifying the aspects of the lithologies and structures that are most strongly associated with gold mineralisation.

This process shall assist in determining and prioritising follow up exploration actions. Summary “In addition to the initial scouting results, the imminent completion of the airborne survey review, surface mapping, combined with the results from the current drilling programmes, will result in more clearly defined target generation at both the Guy Fawkes Project Sector and the remainder of the Northern Shear.

Auroch continues to move forward to deliver on its first milestone of an additional 400,000 non-refractory ounces of inferred resources” commented Dean Cunningham.
