MARKET COMMENTARY FOR AUG 2, 2012

The major central banks of the western world have all spoken now. We heard from the Fed yesterday, the ECB and the BoE this morning, all of whom are more or less maintaining the status quo. Rates in the USA, UK and Euro Zone have all remained unchanged, as have easing programs like bond purchasing amounts. While there was a lot of talk that markets would be disappointed if no further action was taken by any of these centrals, the results have been positive overseas. The Euro Stoxx 50 is up by just under 1% and the gains are more or less spread evenly across core and periphery. All in all, the markets are ignoring mediocre economic news and statements, and pushing higher as the morning rolls on
