Eagle Star Minerals Receives Excellent Solubility Results of up to 95% at Canabrava

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Aug. 2, 2012) - Eagle Star Minerals Corp., (TSX VENTURE:EGE)(PINKSHEETS:ELGSF)(FRANKFURT:E6R) ("Eagle Star" or "the Company") is very pleased to announce that it has received results from chemical and metallurgical tests of rock types that compose the 15km mineralized package at Canabrava (announced July 5th, 2012). The tests have returned excellent solubility and heavy fraction recovery of results.

Solubility tests in both hydrochloric and citric acids confirmed that fluor-apatite is the major phosphorous containing mineral with solubility of phosphorus and calcium ranging from 87 to 96%. The results also indicated that the fluor-apatite represents more than 10% of the mineralogy model and calcination tests excluded the presence of any secondary phosphates. The recovery of fluor-apatite concentrate test (densimetric separation with bromoform) also returned excellent values between 76 and 83%. In addition, preliminary desimentric separation processes showed very positive signs for recoveries of the material in which the phosphate was upgraded by over 100% from 3.6% to 8.26% (sample E-2).

Canabrava is located less than 20km to the north of Picos, the third largest city in Piau State, Brazil. The city is at the center of the state surrounded by good infrastructure including close proximity to large agricultural centers and railroads. The Bocaina dam is located at the heart of the concession block and can supply water for future beneficiation processes.

The Canabrava Block is 100% wholly owned and covers 40,678 hectares across 23 mineral claims.

Chemical and Metallurgical Tests (solubility)

The tests were conducted using three chip samples representative of the rock types that compose the mineralized package. The objective of the study was to define the chemical composition and solubility of the mineral phases. In addition, the study assisted with developing the process for an optimized beneficiation.

The analysis included the determination of moisture content, particle size distribution (screen analyses), chemical composition (EDS X-ray fluorescence, atomic absorption spectrometry and conventional wet chemistry methods), mineralogical composition (X-ray diffraction) and solubility of mineral phases in hydrochloric acid (8%) and citric acid (3%). The beneficiation tests included low intensity magnetic separation (LIMS), densimetric separation using bromoform as a heavy media (density = 2.9 t/m3) and calcination at 700C.

Highlights from the results are:

Presence of more than 10% fluor-apatite in the sandstone indicated by chemical analysis. Fluor-apatite (Ca10(PO4)6F2) is the main phosphorus bearing mineral in all the rock types characterized. It is a primary mineral phase and therefore displays the most favorable properties when it comes to the solubility and degree of liberation of phosphorus. Favorable mineralogical assembly. The silica and iron are associated with different mineral phases than the phosphorus bearing one. The gangue minerals can be separated by means of a beneficiation method in which the differences of density can be exploited to upgrade the concentrated material. The absence of secondary phosphate phases such as crandallite was confirmed by the calcination tests conducted. Typically the presence of secondary phases implies low phosphorus content and low solubility of the mineral phases. High solubility of phosphorus (87 to 95%) and calcium (above 93%). Upgrading of ore from the desimetric process from 3.6% to 8.6% P2O5. High density values of the original samples (E-1: 2.804 g/ml; E-2: 3.041 g/ml; E-3: 2.936 g/ml). These values are considered high when compared to other deposits throughout Brazil.

Further investigation

Objectives sought with the preliminary characterization have been accomplished. Further work to be investigated with the Canabrava ore includes the determination of the particle size in which apatite is liberated from the gangue minerals and the investigation of a beneficiation flowsheet which may include a combination of unit operations such as high intensity magnetic separation - to separate hematite/goethite - and flotation.

Laboratory work was conducted by GLS Consultores Associados Ltda, a hydrometallurgical consultancy in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

Conclusions

"With this excellent news comes a very large development within the company and probably the most significant breakthrough in the companys history. Proving solubility and recovery when it comes to phosphate can always be challenging especially in large quantities." Commented Dr. Campos, Eagle Stars COO, Director and expert on phosphate. "What our team has done at Canabrava is quite remarkable, having identified a package of this volume, at surface, which now proves to have excellent mineral characteristics. The combination of mineralogical, solubility and recovery studies together with the good and consistent grades along the potential area outlined indicates that Canabrava is a very attractive business opportunity that adds considerable value to our portfolio."
