PETROBRAS - PRESS RELEASE: PETROBRAS DISCOVERS OIL AND NATURAL GAS IN THE AMAZON.

Rio de Janeiro, February 3, 2012 – Petróleo Brasileiro S.A.

– Petrobras announces the discovery of a new oil and natural gas accumulation in the Solimões Basin, Block SOL-T-171, in the State of Amazonas.
 
The discovery took place during the drilling of well 1-BRSA-961-AM, unofficially known as  Igarapé Chibata Leste.

Located in the Coari, 25 km from the Urucu Oil Province, the well was drilled to a depth of 3,295 meters.
 
Tests have indicated a production capacity of 1,400 barrels of good quality oil per day (41º API) and 45,000 m3 of natural gas in the Juruá Formation.
 
This is the second successful exploration in Block SOL-T-171 after 2010, when the Discovery Evaluation Plan of well 1-BRSA-769-AM (Igarapé Chibata) started.
 
Petrobras holds 100% of the exploration and production rights in the Concession.

The company current production in the Amazonas State is 53,000 barrels of oil and 11,000 m3 of natural gas per day, in addition to 1,300 tons/day of LPG.
